The Senseo One Cup Coffee Maker has a sleek design with a curved canister which houses the water reservoir. The spray heads and coffee pod compartments are on the front of the machine along with a circular pad to hold your coffee cup. Operating buttons are located in the front. Designed by Phillips, one of the world's largest electronics companies, it is available in five colors: red, black, blue, white, and the newest, a burnished chrome. With its modern, stylish lines, the Senseo adds a touch of upscale class to your kitchen counter.
The machine produces coffee by using mild water pressure through the specially designed spray heads, passing it through the paper encased coffee pods. Using pods eliminates messy coffee grounds and paper filters to produce a cup of hot coffee in a minute. Some reviewers report that within two minutes you can decide that you want a cup of coffee - to actually having it in front of you - ready to drink!
The Senseo Supreme, Model H D 7832, is a step up from the original Senseo Delux machine, Model 7820. The new model has a larger water reservoir of 32 ounces. which can be removed. The cup size and volume of coffee produced can be adjusted - from a 3 ounce demitasse cup to a large 10 ounce mug. The Supreme's digital screen allows you to adjust the cup size and customize the strength of your brew by controlling the amount of water used. A spout can be adjusted for height so taller mugs can be filled. However, tallest travel mugs do not fit if they hold more than 10 ounces.
This One Cup coffee machine can really produce more than a single cup at a time. The One Cup setting dispenses between 3 to 4 ounces of stronger brew. The Two Cup setting makes between 5 to 9 ounces of hot coffee at temperatures of 170° F to 175° F. This machine has 3 interchangeable pod filter holders for one cup or two cups of coffee or tea. If you want a stronger, darker cup of coffee, select the double pod holder and use two standard 7 gram coffee pods and select the 8 ounce brew option. Brew time ranges from 30 to 60 seconds with the newer Senseo Supreme machine.
The Senseo Supreme is designed to work best with Senseo coffee pods, now readily available. When the Senseo machine first came out, the number one complaint was about the limited variety of coffee pods, which were made by Douwe Egberts. Today, the machine can produce a cup of coffee with the frothy crema on top using pods from Maxwell House to Melitta and Folgers Home Café. Wolfgang Puck and Fratello are now producing coffee pods which work well in the Senseo machine. Coffee varieties include traditional Colombian, Sumatra, French Vanilla, Hazelnut, Kenya, Brazilian, and many more. Tea pods plus an espresso pod are available as well as ones for lattes and cappuccinos.
The Senseo is a compact machine which needs about 13 inches of clearance to fit under a kitchen cabinet and it takes up 8.5 x 13 inches of counter space. Most users are quite satisfied with their machines, which are durable and able to withstand frequent use.
